Coach Bios 

 

Willie Viruet - Head Coach Coach. Willie has won several State Titles as well as ESPN World Series National Championship. Prior to coaching, Coach Willie graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1991 where he played Varsity Baseball and received many All-County honors. Viruet also played baseball at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from 1991-1994, before signing to play with the New York Mets organization in 1994. A graduate of Florida International University, Willie earned his B.S. in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2003. He and his wife, Laura Viruet, have two children, Leyani (11) and Rylie (16). 

Rhonda Abdullah - Assistant Coach. She graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High school, having earned all-conference, all-county, and all-state honors. Rhonda was recruited and accepted a scholarship to Furman University in 1995, then transferred to the University of Georgia where she played on the inaugural team at the university for her remaining 3 seasons (1997-1999). She was awarded as the Strength and conditioning All-American in 1997. She also earned pitcher of the week awards in the SEC and SEC Academic Honor Roll throughout her career. She has a passion for coaching the kids and her love for he game reflects on the field. Rhonda has her BS in Dietetics and MBA from the University of Phoenix. Rhonda and her husband Jameel (Division 1 wrestlers at Boston University) have 3 children. Christopher (11), Anabela (8), and Zoey (6).

Mike Guillou - Assistant Coach. Coach Mike coached at Fletcher Park for five seasons from 2011-2015 as an assistant coach from the Tee-Ball division through the 8 and under travel team division. During the 2013-2014 season, he was an assistant coach with Pines Thunder under Coach Mindy where they finished 1st at the USSSA South Florida States tournament. He was also an assistant coach with Pines Thunder during the 2014-2015 season under Coach Willie, where they repeated as USSSA South Florida State Champions. Coach Mike rejoined Coach Mindy’s staff during the 2015-2016 10U season where he was an assistant coach in charge of their fitness program. During that season, their team were 1 st place champions in 7 weekend tournaments, runner’s up in the USSSA Central Florida States, State Champions in USSSA South Florida States, NSA State Champions and finished 4 th at the USFA Panama City Beach National World Series. Coach Mike attended Tarkio College in Tarkio, MO from 1990-1991 on a football scholarship and finished his AA degree at Miami-Dade Community College.  In 2005 he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Barry University.  He has over 21 years of law enforcement experience where from 1995-1996 he was a Corrections Deputy with the Broward Sheriff's Office.  He was hired by the City of Miramar Police Department in October of 1996, where he is a Detective currently assigned to the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force.  His hobbies include staying in shape, coaching, spoiling his granddaughter and spending quality time with his family.

 

Nelson Valle - Assistant Coach. He was a utility player at Louis D. Brandeis High School where he received All New York City Honors in 95. He went 7-1 with an ERA of 3.12 and a batting average of .400 his senior season. Nelson also pitched a No Hitter in the second round of the PSAL playoffs in New York City. He went on to receive a scholarship for pitching at Division 1 Western Oklahoma State College. After school Nelson enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served for three years. Nelson’s dedication and love for coaching kids is apparent on the field along with teaching life lessons associated with the sport. Nelson, his wife Maria, and their children Christina (20), Nicholas (11), and Arianna (8) relocated to Florida in July 2013.
